Liposuction

QUOTED BY PHYSICIAN IN COMPLIMENTARY CONSULTATION

Safest, most effective way to get rid of excess fat deposits

Within the clinic is our Operating room, which is an accredited facility under The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan, which allows us to meet the highest standards of care for our clients.

Dr. Naude offers Tumescent Liposuction, which he feels is the safest, most effective way to get rid of excess fat deposits. Smartlipo, which is the newest form of laser assisted fat reduction that helps reshape your body, while tightening the skin is also offered in conjunction with Tumescent Liposuction.

Tumescent Liposuction is a very safe and comfortable way of doing Liposuction. This is a gentle infusion of local anesthesia into the skin of the treatment area with a large volume of the anesthetic solution, then small adits (1-2 mm openings) are made. These openings are for the small cannulas to gently pass through the skin into the fat to be removed. During a treatment clients are generally awake and interactive or may even have short naps, with very little if any discomfort, and rarely need any other medications.

Abdominal Liposuction- this tends to be one of the most common areas treated by women and men. Abdominal fat occurs at two depths, the superficial fat and the deep fat. The superficial fat is located just below the skin and above the abdominal muscles. The deep fat is located inside the abdominal cavity. Only the superficial fat can be removed safely with liposuction. The deep fat can only be minimized through weight loss, diet and exercise. Most patients have more superficial fat than deep fat, therefore liposuction will give a nice improvement to the shape of the abdominal area.

Pain after tumescent liposuction does not typically require pain medications any stronger than acetaminophen (Tylenol). The anesthetic after liposuction can last for 12-18 hours. And then generally from 36 to 72 hours after surgery is when the greatest degree of discomfort will be felt, and acetaminophen can be taken. The pain afterwards is similar to muscle soreness after a hard workout. It is most intense when the area is touched or the skin is stretched, such as getting in and out of a car, or rolling over in bed. There is minimal discomfort while standing, sitting or walking. A compression garment will be worn for 4-8 weeks after the treatment to assist with swelling and discomfort.

There are many other areas that can be done, such as the flanks for both men and women also known as the love handles. The upper back around the bra line, upper arms, chin, cheeks and jowels, male breasts, and thighs.
